Jeuveau vs BOTOX®: What’s The Difference?

When you think of non surgical solutions to fine lines and wrinkles, there’s a good chance that Botox comes to mind. Due to the lack of competition for a number of years, Botox has done a great job in establishing itself as a staple within the cosmetic industry, but now that seems to be changing. While still a recognizable and prominent brand, Botox is now being joined by others, including the brand Jeuveau.

Before you decide on one option over the other, here at Emergency Fix, we always believe that being fully informed is always going to be the key to your success. That’s why in this article, we will be reviewing these two name brand compounds and what they have to offer.

What is Jeuveau?

Jeuveau offers purified botulinum toxin (prabotulinumtoxinA) injections that are geared towards temporarily immobilizing the muscle groups that surround the area of treatment. When this purified toxin comes in contact with your muscle and surrounding nerve cells, it blocks the nerve signals resulting in little to no movement in the treated areas. Similar to Botox, Jeuveau can be used to treat aesthetic concerns such as fine lines and wrinkles on the skin.

What is BOTOX®?

Jeuveau vs Botox

The company, Botox, is the world famous provider of botulinum toxin. Having been the only main source to acquire this refined compound for years, Botox made a name for itself. Botox injections were also the first and only company to be approved by the FDA to use botulinum toxin to treat medical concerns, paving the way for individuals struggling with a number of difficult illnesses.

Comparing Jeuveau and BOTOX® treatments

Since each company provides similar services, what exactly sets them apart? Are there certain risks or negative side effects of one over the other? Does one cost significantly less? Let’s find out!

How effective is each treatment for cosmetic applications?

The method of application for each treatment is the same: injecting the compound into a targeted area. Since both of these treatments are injectable forms of botulinum toxin, the effectiveness remains the same. The only difference that may result in Jeuveau having the upper hand is the added steps that the company takes to remove any potentially harmful proteins from the formulation. As a result, this not only makes the formula easy to integrate with absorption, but it also makes it slightly safer to keep within the body.

Which neurotoxin is more costly?

Seeing as Botox is a name brand treatment, the cost associated with each unit may be higher. It is important to remember that the cost per unit will change based on your location and the office where the product is being administered. On average, it is estimated that Jeuveau is around 20% to 30% less expensive than its competitor.

Can you receive both treatments in the same area?

While each product serves the same purpose and is composed of almost exactly the same materials, it is important to avoid using both treatments in the same area. Since each product is made in different locations with separate refinement techniques and slightly different compositions, there is going to be a potential risk to your health and safety, as well as the quality of results. As a best practice, simply try to find which product works best for your needs and stick to it.

Which treatment is best for medical application?

Now that we know that both companies offer solutions to stubborn frown lines and crow's feet, what about the medical applications? While both can technically provide results, Botox is the only product advertised and approved by the FDA for medical application. In the event that you find yourself looking at solutions for chronic migraines or excessive sweating, you may want to stick with Botox.

How long do the results of Jeuveau and BOTOX® last?

Since both companies use the same type of neurotoxin, you can expect results to last anywhere between three to four months for both treatments. There should not be too much of a difference in longevity between either brand.
